After waiting seven months to hear from the NSW Government about the GKNP planning process and promised community involvement, NPA and other GKNP supporting stakeholders were pleased to receive an invitation to participate on a soon-to-be-established ‘GKNP Community Advisory Panel’.

NSW Upper House Inquiry into the Long Term Sustainability and Future of the Timber and Forest Products Industry
Recently NPA was invited to showcase the GKNP to the Upper House MPs on the Committee inquiring into the sustainability of the timber and forest products industry in NSW, when the Inquiry came to Coffs Harbour for its final hearing.
The Great Koala Protected Areas (GKNP) Bill – LOST!
The Bill was debated in the NSW Upper House on 8 June with the vote lost 30 to 7. Politics once again won out over the future of koalas in NSW with the Government and Opposition voting against the NSW Greens’ bill to establish the Great Koala National Park.
Our iconic Koala is now an endangered species.
The world’s favourite animal is now an endangered species in NSW, Victoria and Queensland. Today’s announcement by the Federal Minister for the Environment the Hon. Sussan Ley MP, to declare the Koala endangered is long overdue.

The future of the Koala is of great concern to a majority of Austraians, who would like to see the State and Federal Governments end native forest logging and following the lead of the Victorian and Western Australia Governments who recently announced plans to stop logging native forests, investing instead to expand their plantation estates.
